Miscellaneous

I've worn many hats throughout my design career: Art Director, Illustrator, Copy-writer, Production Designer, Marketer, Recruiter, Consultant, Mentor, and more. I consider myself lucky to have been able to work on projects that allow me to use these skills.

Challenge: The primary purpose of this extensive project was to attract and inform potential students and their parents. The Viewbook showcases the University, the programs, the faculty, student life, costs & housing, and the city of Doha, Qatar in general – and both in English and Arabic.

The secondary purpose of this project was to showcase design potential to affect the world. The brief required that the f inished piece be an extreme example of environmental conscientiousness.

Solution: Of course, this could have stopped and started with recycled paper however, I felt it should showcase more.

The four department sections were designed to be individual pieces that slid into the main section's spine. That way, if the user was not interested in a topic, they could customize their own Viewbook based only on their specif ic interests without having to take the other sections. The booklet sections were printed separately and when they ran out, only those sections needed to be reprinted, instead of the entire book (thus conserving materials).

INFOGRAPHIC
A complex infographic that shows the revenue gain from years of heavy snow. From the left is a dollar bill graphic showing high or low revenue (expressed by happy or sad snowboarder). Red and green colors differenciate financial gain from each chart, red is negative gain, green is positive. The ski lift leads to the snow level shown on the snow measuring stick. Each mountain represents a Colorado ski resort.

(Far Right) A detail of the infographic.

POSTER DESIGN
(Right) Designed for an independent film documentary about the growing apathy in young people, especially in the US. The film explores reasons why and suggests solutions for getting today's youth involved in the world for positive change.

Bright colors attract the viewer, the edgy ink blob transitions into butterflies symbolizing
change (metamorphosis). The poster has a modern aesthetic, and designed so as not to seem preachy or boring.

(Far Right) A previous iteration of the ink-blob butterfly logo.

CD COVER DESIGN
Despite the rarity of CD designs these days, I designed this CD for a relatively new project for a Cabaret entertainer in LA. This project was for a collection of songs from the 30‘s/40‘s and were appropriate to the Wedding theme. The challenge was to capture a vintage aestetic in a modern way without looking cliché. The client requested custom illustrations too.

CD LABEL DESIGN
Home and Yonder launched a music label and this is the first one. The forthcoming CDs will be the same except for the lower segments that will reflect the individual designs.

A custom image was created to augment the brand that depicts a grammaphone emitting musical notes to a radio tower. This secondary image will help differentiate the music-related aspect of the Home + Yonder company.
